Instructions: Now that you have proven that there is a problem, you must research possible solutions to the problem. You must turn in this research sheet completed with two articles attached that show possible solutions and why they would work
III. There are many possible solutions to this problem. The possible solutions are: (Two articles must be attached and annotated bibliography)
A possible solution to this problem is the raise of the federal minimum wage to at least $8.50 an hour.
IV. The solution I (we) propose is: (This section will become your proposed legislation. Be sure to include what agency will implement your law, proposed cost if any and effective date)
The solution I propose is to raise the federal minimum wage to at least $8.50 an hour to keep up with the increases in the cost of living. Any employee over 18 must be paid at least $8.50 an hour with the exception of minors, who can be paid ¢.50 below the established minimum wage until they become the age of majority. This law will be implemented by the Department of Labor and will be effective starting June 1, 2011.
V. I (we) think this solution will work because: (You must use factual information to prove your solution will work)
I believe this solution will work because one of the articles suggests that the minimum wage should be raised to at least $10.00 an hour to cover the many expenses in an American family. However, I don't think it is fair for the businesses to make such significant raise. The current federal minimum wage is not enough to sustain many families in the United States; therefore, the raise of $1.25 seems fair for businesses, and it will help many families to get more incomes for their homes which will also estimulate the economy of our country.
